Pieced flowers, from the book of the same name by McDowell. I enjoyed choosing the fabrics for these blocks, which includes commercial and hand dyed fabrics. Free machine quilting using rayon threads. Cotton wadding. Won a third prize at Sandowne, Quilt Championships. One of my favourite books of all time.
Pieced flower patterns from the book By Ruth McDowell. Machine pieced and FMQ. This quilt has no binding, instead it has a facing. I love these patterns and enjoyed choosing the fabrics for each.
As I recounted in this blog, I traced the quilting patterns off an old Allendale quilt, then made my own wholecloth quilt. the pink version is my modern quilt. It is made from pink polished cotton and has wool wadding. I showed this at the Festival of Quilts (not in the competition) and then at Malvern it won the cup for best quilting award.
Another re-creation of an old quilt - I bought an old top, poorly sewn together but with a lovely quilting pattern darwn in with blue pencil. I copied the pattern as closely as I could. Here is is at the Festival of Quilts.
